Brice
Wassy is originally from Cameroon, West Africa where he spent his
childhood years. As a teenager he moved to the cosmopolitan cultural
capital of Paris, France where he still makes his home. He has recorded
with Manu Dibango, Salif Keita, Mory Kante, Myriam Makeba, Don Cherry,
Graham Haynes, Jean Luc Ponty, and Mike Ellis to name a few. Wassy
is an extraordinary musical artist in all respects; the exceptional
originality of his performance and compositional styles being first
and foremost. His vast musical culture makes him truly a World Jazz
artist, a musician without borders, who draws from all music with
the uncanny ability to meld these influences into a coherent and
personal statement. As a drummer and percussionist, his rock steady
groove and polyrhythmic virtuosity are awe inspiring.
